2019 Do It 4 Derek Raffle
We are going to give this a shot again, trying another raffle. We have worked with Harris Golf Cars in Dubuque, IA to create an awesome customized Brewers golf car. The car is pictured below but has: custom wheels, custom lights, blue ground lights, customized graphics, custom leather bucket seats with Brewers/ logos, a USB charging station and a blue tooth speaker system. The cart would retail for over $7,000 as is. It will be a sweet ride for whoever wins it.
We also have 3 guns, thanks to Anglers Nook in Lancaster for working with us: a Savage 93R17 17HMR with T-Hole stock and stainless steel barrel, a Tristar Upland Hunter over/under 12 gauge shotgun, and a Mossberg Patriot Walnut stock 6.5 Creedmoor rifle.
Included in this raffle will also be a signed Giannis “Greek Freak” jersey and cash and autographed item. Tickets will be on sale starting in mid-March and lasting right up until July 25th when they will be drawn at the Golf Course. Should be a great raffle!
2018 Camp Wrap-up
It was a wonderful camp in 2018, where we had a record 208 kids that attended this year’s camp. That says a lot about the people of this area that value the training and knowledge they get from this camp. This year we added some new faces to our camp on the coaching side. We added a full-time softball section coached and taught by Jim and Erin White. Jim was the recipient of the 2017 National High School Coach of the Year and Erin is a 2X Olympic softball player. They will be back in 2019. We also introduced the kids to Bill Castro, former Brewers pitcher and bullpen coach for multiple years. Great guy and he will also be back in 2019. From everything I heard, the kids had a great time. The Milwaukee Brewers provided a large box of goodies to give to them as prizes for hustle and listening, which is very important.
We also welcomed some new faces and events to our nightly routine. On Monday, Bradie Ewing brought in another former Badger football player, Jacob Pedersen, to play softball. We appreciated his joining us, and I know he had a great time. On Tuesday night, we replaced the country music concert with a bean bag tournament which was held at the Fennimore Fire Department. We are so grateful to have such a wonderful volunteer fire department. They hosted and provided food and beverage as a fundraiser for them as well. We know they were busy as they ran out of food AND beverage a couple times. We had 64 teams in the event including some kids teams. There are some pictures in the gallery showing some of the fun we had. It lasted into the night, and they even used the ladder truck to provide lighting for the players. On Wednesday night we again had the bowling tournament with the shirts honoring Ladd and Gantner. Shane was a gracious host at Tower Junction, and everyone had a great time. And finally we had our closing 18-hole scramble at Hickory Grove where Scott Peterson and his staff provided a great atmosphere and food. We were joined by former Bucks on-court reporter Telly Hughes and former Brewers pitcher Jarod Washburn. It was another successful event where the bidding for players helped raise more needed funds for the scholarship program and the community improvement funds for the ballpark and other ballparks in the area.
All in all, Brandee and I are very grateful that so many people continue to support our foundation and help Derek’s spirit continue to live on through the projects we are able to do. It’s amazing how generous people are with their time as we continue to have 12-15 coaches that take off a week of work to volunteer at our camps. So from our family to yours, thank you so much for another successful camp year. Stay tuned for our upcoming release of the 2019 camp which will run July 22nd-25th. Thanks!
Bean Bag Tourney July 24th
We are hoping to completely fill the 64 team bracket, as that would make the night most enjoyable. This is your chance to rub shoulders with the Pros and play some friendly games of bean bags (cornhole).
We will split everyone up into 8 brackets of 8 teams, with the Pros playing on their own custom boards, which will be auctioned off later. It will be a double elimination 8-team bracket and then the 8 winners (win money) and then compete for the final prize in a single elimination tournament. ALL AGES ARE WELCOME! We have some entries for 10-15 yr olds already and will have at least one bracket full of them if not more.
You can email your intent or call me at 608-988-6222. There will be live music during the event and food/drink provided by the Fennimore Fire Department. Thanks!

2018 Steve Woodard and DoIt4Derek Baseball Camp – July 23-26
Mark your calendars now for the 2018 Baseball Camp! We are already making plans for the camp and will have some changes from last year.
Registration forms, the schedule of events, and other information will be posted this spring and as time gets closer to camp. Just a reminder, the camps will run from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. all 4 days.
For those of you unfamiliar with how our camp works, here is a quick run through of how it works. We offer a unique 4-day camp that offers 2 separate 2-day camps or the choice to go to all 4 days. The camps are taught by Steve Woodard (ex-Milwaukee Brewers Pitcher) and 6 of his former teammates and ex-Brewers players. We also have some very wonderful local coach volunteers that assist at all of the stations (10-12 coaches). The first day of the 2-day camp focuses on the defensive aspect of the game. We teach your kids the correct way to throw and pitch (girls have a softball pitching instructor) and all players are taught proper defensive techniques as well, which includes proper fielding and defensive positioning. The second day focuses on offense and includes hitting, bunting, and running. The same structure occurs on the 2nd camp as well. 50% of the kids choose to go to all 4 days. On the final day of camp, the players will sign autographs for the kids. We also give away many items to the kids for hustling and listening as well. So stay tuned for details. We are awaiting confirmation for one more player. This year’s coaches are back by popular demand: Steve Woodard, Cecil Cooper, Jim Gantner, Pete Ladd, Willie Mueller, Bill Castro, Erin White and Paul Wagner.
We also have nightly events for the kids and the adults. On Monday night, the 23rd, we have our Celebrity Softball Game which pits those pros, plus some other surprise sports icons versus our sponsors and some other local players. Perhaps this year the locals will keep it closer. After the game we have the homerun derby, where Steve Lendosky will get to defend his crown, which he took from Paul Wagner. On Tuesday night, the 24th, we have a new event. We are going to have a bean bag tourney. Location and details will follow soon, but it WILL be a fun event. On Wednesday night the 25th we will have our 8-pin tap which is always a blast. And finally, Thursday the 26th will be our 18-hole golf outing, which is the largest part of our fundraiser, where teams are allowed to bid on the services of the players. We promise to have some more exciting prizes and raffle items at all our events this year. So stay tuned!!
2018 Derek Lendosky Memorial Tournament July 27th-29th
We changed the format this year to make it an 11U and 13U tournament. This tournament directly follows the 2018 camp. Taking 8 teams from each age category. 3 game guarantee, round robin with bracketed single-elimination tourney to follow. We will also be giving away some prizes from our camp to some lucky players in the tourney. Sign your team up quick. Don’t wait! 2018 Derek Lendosky Memorial Tournament
2017 Camp Summary
What a great camp it was. We had the largest number of kids to date with over 180 kids attending. We had some great weather and the kids learned so much. We will continue to offer these camps for as long as we are able and for as long as the kids continue to want to attend. Click on the gallery to see some of the pictures taken by Bryan Schwark. We have hundreds of pictures in our possession, which makes it kind of hard to put them all on here. So we selected some group shots. We had a wonderful week of events at night as well, thanks to some other local sports heroes. The softball game featured former Wisconsin Badgers: Josh Gasser and Bradie Ewing. The bowling event featured Milwaukee Bucks announcer Telly Hughes. And the golf outing we were lucky enough to have Adam Hampton, former Badger, who lit up the course. We were very lucky to have such kind people assist us this year.

2017 Steve Woodard and DoIt4Derek Baseball Camps
It’s finally here. Registration forms are ready to be filled in. We have a bunch of the same coaches from last year, plus one new face. This year’s coaches are: Steve Woodard, Cecil Cooper, Jim Gantner, Greg Vaughn, Pete Ladd. Paul Wagner, Willie Mueller and newcomer Scott Karl. We are honored to have these players here to help instruct our youth. We will have the same quality instruction, and we will again have the girls softball pitching aspect added to camp after such great reviews from last year. We have 11 volunteer coaches that will be assisting the coaches.
This year will again be split into two camps, with the ability to do all 4 days at a discounted price. The cost for the camps is $100 but if you decide to do both camps, we will allow you to do all 4 days for $150. Many took advantage of that offer last year and enjoyed being with the players for 4 days. We will continue to give out hustle and listening awards to the kids as well, and other nice prizes. There will be concessions available at the park.

2016 Baseball Camp Recap
We had a great 4-day camp in 2016. We welcomed some new coaches to camp in 2016: Willie Mueller, Paul Wagner and Mike Caldwell. All 3 were pitchers and brought their expertise to camp. In the 4 days, we had 140 registrants, which is so wonderful. We added a new aspect to camp when we were lucky enough to be able to add Clarissa Waltz-U’Ren as a women’s softball pitching coach. This new part of camp has made this entire camp better, broadening the offering that we have.
In 2016 we again had a great set of night activities. We had the traditional Monday night softball game, in which we did 2-6 inning games followed by a fireworks display from Kastner Pyrotechnics. It was a beautiful display. The 2016 homerun derby was won by one of our new coaches, Paul Wagner. On Tuesday night we again had the Q&A event, which welcomed 130 fans to listen to the stories of old. At the end of the evening we were once again blessed by a concert from Pete Ladd, who shared a new song, one he wrote about Derek. It was beautiful. On Wednesday we tried a new event. We decided to have an 8-pin tap at the Tower Junction. I think it went great. We called it Woody’s 8-pin tap. Next year we will feature a different coach as the headliner. The final night we had our 18-hole scramble. Greg Vaughn’s team were the winners. In all, we were able to raise enough money from all of our events to fund 7 scholarships, and have money left to make improvements to the ball field. In 2017, Derek’s infield will be pushed back and new fill will be added so that we can accommodate 14U baseball. 2016 was a wonderful year for this camp and we thank all that were a part of it.
